UI Designer: AI that designs your Fortnite HUD and menus

The UI Designer handles AI Fortnite HUD design: screens, menus, popups, icons and visual identity. Every screen, icon and color should look like your game and no other, so it starts from your game’s subject, then applies the rules of readable game UI.

AI Fortnite HUD design

The UI Designer works in Island Pilot’s UI Design tab, one per project: a 1920×1080 canvas holding your game’s branding, its screens (HUD, menus, popups) and a library of transparent PNGs. It reads that tab, checks the project description, Verse files and assets when needed, and reuses what exists before creating anything.

It also designs your island’s thumbnails in the Thumbnails tab: landscape 1920×1080, portrait 1440×1920, with logo or art only, plus the island name logo as a transparent 1440×608 PNG, the formats the Creator Portal requires from October 15, 2026.

How it works

  1. Brand first: if the palette, fonts or motifs are still defaults, it proposes them from your game’s subject and saves them.
  2. Screens: it lays out each element at 1920×1080, anchored to the screen edge it belongs to. The HUD stays in the safe area and keeps the center clear; a menu uses one window with a colored title bar, a close button and clear primary actions. Every dynamic value gets a Verse binding name.
  3. Icons: it lists the missing ones and generates them one at a time (isolated subject, thick dark outline, no text). Island Pilot removes the background, crops and saves the PNG; it only regenerates an icon flagged as opaque or uncertain.
  4. Review: it checks overlaps, text that fits its box, contrast, consistent outlines and color meaning.

It never claims the UI is already in your game: it hands off to the UI Engineer, who builds each screen in the UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) widget editor. The displayed values then come from logic written by the Verse Coder or the UI Engineer.

Example prompts

  • Propose branding for my barber tycoon: palette, fonts, motifs and logo.
  • Design the HUD: coins top right, blade level and upgrade button at the bottom.
  • Create the shop screen with three upgrades and a close button.
  • Generate the missing icons: coin, blade and shield.
  • Prepare the Creator Portal thumbnail kit in a cartoon style.

Limits

The UI Designer designs; it does not implement widgets in UEFN, which is the UI Engineer’s job. Image generation runs on your own accounts, and it never relaunches a generation after an unclear result. For thumbnails, it only calls an image compliant after reviewing it against Epic’s rules (blood, pointed weapons, currency, logos, things not in the island), and the final decision belongs to the Creator Portal.

FAQ

Does the UI show up in my island right away?

No. The UI Designer draws it in the UI Design tab; the UI Engineer then builds the Widget Blueprint in the UEFN widget editor, and Verse supplies the values, clicks and per-player display.

How are icons made?

Each icon is generated separately, then Island Pilot removes the flat background, crops the image and saves it as a transparent PNG in the project library, with a name and tags.

Can it prepare my Discover thumbnails?

Yes. It writes the brief, generates, saves and reviews each image of the publication kit in the Thumbnails tab. An AI direction mode lets it pick the style and scene from the project’s memory.
