Animation Artist: AI animation for your Fortnite characters

The Animation Artist delivers motion that fits the character, the gameplay timing and the target skeleton. This AI animation for Fortnite runs through Blender, Meshy or UEFN’s own tools, always starting from what already exists.

AI animation for your Fortnite characters

The Animation Artist creates or refines animation clips, loops, transitions, retargeting, generated motion and cinematics for your UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) island. It checks skeleton compatibility, contacts and playback.

It starts by inspecting the source rig, target skeleton, rest pose, available clips, frame rate, units and expected root motion. It then defines the action, contact points, duration and loop or transition needs. A compatible existing animation is reused before anything is generated or retargeted.

How it works

In Blender

It inspects the actual actions and constraints, then edits a bounded clip through the Blender bridge. It works on readable poses and contacts first, secondary detail later. For a cinematic, it relies on the camera pack for framing.

With Meshy

For generated animation, it looks up Meshy’s animation library to use real action IDs. For text-to-motion, it follows the documented format. It keeps every task ID, follows its status and only uses the formats returned, without automatically importing the downloaded file.

In UEFN

It discovers the retargeting, sequence, socket or playback tools the editor exposes before calling them. It keeps originals when baking or retargeting, and never quietly changes gameplay behavior while attaching a prop.

It works on rigs prepared by the Rigging Artist, animates models from the 3D Modeler and takes tasks from you directly or from the orchestrator.

Example prompts

  • Create an idle loop for the shopkeeper with no foot sliding.
  • Pick a victory dance from the Meshy library for this rigged character.
  • Generate a backflip motion from a text description.
  • Retarget our run animations to the new skeleton and keep the originals.
  • The walk loop has a visible pop: fix the seam.

Limits

The Animation Artist checks timing, loop seams, foot sliding, root drift, deformation, clipping and prop alignment. It separates an existing clip, a generated file, a baked or retargeted sequence and playback actually observed in the editor. Without playback access, it reports that missing check instead of claiming success. Meshy generations use your own account’s credits.

FAQ

Can it generate an animation from text?

Yes, with Meshy text-to-motion and your own Meshy account. The returned file is downloaded in its original formats; importing it into UEFN is a separate step.

Are my existing animations kept?

Yes. It reuses compatible clips first and preserves the originals when it bakes or retargets an animation.

Does the character need to be rigged?

Yes, animation runs on a skeleton. If your model has none, the Rigging Artist can prepare it, for example on a task from the orchestrator.

Can I talk to it directly?

Yes. Open a conversation with its profile, mention it with @ in a request, or let the orchestrator hand it a step. Its model, reasoning effort, Skills and permissions are all customizable.
