Orchestrator: the AI that runs your Fortnite agent team

Island Pilot’s AI orchestrator is the project lead of your agent team. Describe what you want on your Fortnite island; it breaks the request into steps, gives each part to the right specialist and reads their reports before moving on.

An AI orchestrator for Fortnite islands

An island needs Verse code, playable space, assets, effects and tests. Instead of juggling tools, you write one request in Island Pilot, the Windows app that works next to UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite). The orchestrator separates what you actually asked for from loose ideas, spots dependencies and missing inputs, and sets a concrete check for every step.

It does not replace the specialists; it sets up their work. The Verse Coder takes gameplay, the Level Designer takes space, the 3D Modeler takes assets, the NPC Author takes encounters, the Tester gathers evidence and the Reviewer gives an independent review. Materials, VFX, audio, UI, rigging and animation have their own specialists too: 14 in all.

How it works

  1. Read: it reviews your goal and the project state, using project memory when it is enabled.
  2. Plan: it publishes a plan of 1 to 12 steps, blocking prerequisites first.
  3. Delegate: in Agent mode, it gives each specialist a bounded task (input, scope, deliverable, checks) with one to three Skills. Independent tasks run in parallel, one per specialist.
  4. Check: it reads each report before starting dependent work, updates the plan and flags real blockers.

You set the number of delegations per request from 1 to 12 in its profile (3 by default). Each delegated specialist gets at most eight tool steps, keeps its own permissions and cannot start another agent. When the budget runs out, the orchestrator reports what is left instead of claiming success.

Progress shows up in the Overview and the project To-Do: every run creates a card, and the orchestrator can pick up an existing card with its notes.

Example prompts

  • Add a coin shop to my tycoon: two upgrade buttons by the counter, and save coins between sessions.
  • Prototype a three-team capture zone mode. Show me the plan first.
  • Pick up the Final Arena card from the To-Do and finish what is left.
  • Add guards around the vault, with an alert effect and a two-player test.
  • Have the Reviewer check the round system, then ask the Tester for a pre-release checklist.

Limits

A plan alone starts no agent, and a report is not proof: the orchestrator separates work that was delivered and checked, work that is only planned and decisions that are yours to make. It does not make asset or gameplay edits you did not ask for. Every delegation also uses your AI provider’s quota; caps and short reports keep the work bounded, but there is no fixed cost.

You can open any specialist’s conversation at any time to answer it or step in. To meet the whole team, see the AI agent team, then pricing.

FAQ

Can the orchestrator keep going without me?

It follows its plan within its step and delegation budget, and actions that need your approval wait for it. If a delegated specialist needs an answer, it asks in its own conversation; your reply resumes the delegation, and the orchestrator then continues with the reports.

Which AI model does it use?

The one you pick in its profile, with any reasoning effort that model supports (see AI models). A specialist set to a specific model keeps it; a specialist on Automatic inherits the orchestrator’s model and reasoning.

Do I always have to go through the orchestrator?

No. For a simple task, open a specialist’s conversation directly or mention it with @. The orchestrator helps when a request spans several disciplines.

Can several agents edit the island at once?

Yes, up to the limit in settings (1 to 6 working agents, 3 by default). Each agent reserves what it edits (asset, actor, Verse file, Blender scene) until its task ends, and a build waits for the others to finish their current step.
